When do you use stainless steel vs carbon steel anchors in exterior applications?

I'm fastening steel stringers to a masonry wall for bleachers.  The anchors will be exposed to weather, but they are on the face of the wall and water won't collect around them.  Should they be stainless, or is a carbon steel threaded rod adequate?  Just looking for standard practice.

anchors,stainless

Jim,

Sorry for the delayed response to your question.  In regards to corrosion protection, since Hilti is not an expert in this area and project parameters vary widely, Hilti relies on general knowledge in the construction industry.  For your referernce, you can review the Corrosion section of the Anchor Fastening Technical Guide (see attached) for typical application guidelines.

Let us know if you have any additional questions.

Bryan
