What is the difference between the Hilti HDA Undercut anchor versions?

I’m considering the Hilti HDA Undercut Anchor for a critical connection and noticed that there are two versions available. Can you explain the difference between the “P” and “T” versions?

Hey Customer,

thank you for reaching out to us. The “P” or Preset version should be installed prior to setting the base plate, fixture or equipment. The anchor sleeve will be positioned below the surface of the concrete. Only the threaded portion of the anchor will extend above surface of the concrete. The “T” or through set version is intended to be installed after the base plate, fixture or equipment is set in the final location.

The clearance hole in the fixture needs to be sized to accommodate the anchor sleeve which provides added shear capacity. The anchor sleeve will be positioned below the top of the fixture and the threaded portion of the anchor will extend above the base plate. The minimum fixture hole diameter and maximum fixture thickness for the HDA-P and HDA-T anchors is provided in our Anchor Fastening Technical Guide and ESR-1546. I hope I have answered your question. If there is anything else, please let me know.

Cheers
Jorge
