Hi Customer,

thank you for your question. The Hilti X-GPN 37 MX power-driven fastener is a knurled shank fastener designed as an efficient solution for the attachment of structural wood panel materials such as plywood and OSB (Oriented Strand Board) to cold-formed steel (CFS) framing as part of shear wall assemblies and other applications such as parapet walls, siding, and roofing.

The X-GPN 37 MX power-driven fastener is installed with a Hilti GX-120 Gas-Actuated Direct Fastening System. Additional information is provided in the Hilti Direct Fastening Technical Guide and ICC ESR-3059. Please feel free to reach out any time, if you need additional information.

All the best
Lisa

Hi Lisa, Is there any code reference or technical paper to support that nailing can be used for the attachment of structural wood panels to CFS framing because as per my study AISI only accepts screws for shear walls?

I have a client that used the GC41 instead of the x-GPN 37 MX fasteners. Have these fasteners been tested with OSB sheathing? And if so what thickness? Thanks.

Hi Jesse,

The GC 41 Gas Canister is the energy mechanism to install the Hilti X-PN 37 G3 MX fastener with the GX 3. As stated in the previous post, the X-PN 37 G3 MX is a knurled shank fastener designed as an efficient solution for the attachment of structural wood panel materials such as plywood and OSB (Oriented Strand Board) to cold-formed steel (CFS) framing

Regards,
Paris
