Reducing spalling in high strength concrete

well this is a good question. Proper fastener and tool selection can help. In some cases using a shorter fastener (ie a fastener than achieves ¾” embedment) can help. However the best way to minimize spalling is to use a specific system designed for installing the fastener in a pre-drilled hole in the concrete. In Hilti’s case we call this the DX-Kwik system.
