Profis Kwik Bolt Hole Conditions

We are looking at installing a cofferdam with a handful of the Kwik Bolt TZ SS 304 being installed underwater with divers prior to dewatering. I cannot find any direction in the technical data about hole conditions but within the Profis software it shows this product as being acceptable for Submerged / underwater hole. Can you confirm this is an acceptable hole condition for installation of this product?

Nick,

You are correct, there is no formal testing nor documentation for mechanical anchors installed in submerged conditions. With that being said, below are some general considerations to review if you are to install a mechanical anchor in a submerged hole:

  • Drilling: How would the hole be drilled?
  • Cleaning: Cleaning of the hole with compressed air; Flushing of the hole with pressurized water
  • Installation: Proper setting of the anchor
  • Corrosion protection: most likely stainless steel material
  • Potential reduction (per engineer) to account for saturated concrete

Let us know if you have any additional questions.

Regards,

Bryan
