What does cracked and uncracked concrete mean in Hilti load tables?

Cracked versus uncracked concrete is a common question that people have when it comes to designing their project. In general, IBC and ACI 318 conservatively assume that throughout the service life of a concrete member, it is expected to crack under the tensile stresses in the concrete as seen in the Hilti North America Anchor Fastening Technical Guide in Section 2.1.2 (https://submittals.us.hilti.com/PTGVol2/#10). The determination of whether the concrete will be deemed as cracked or uncracked will be based an engineering judgement on a project by project basis.
