Pipe support anchors

The building code no longer allows for drop-in and powder-actuated fasteners for pipe support applications in cracked concrete and seismic conditions. What anchors can I use?

Hey Dave,

thank you for your question. Hilti has multiple anchors that can be used in overhead applications for pipe supports in cracked concrete and seismic condition. Unfortunatley the National Building Code does not allow for the use of powder-actuated and drop-in anchors in pipe support applications when these anchors are required to resist seismic tension loads. If FM approvals are only required, then the Kwik Bolt-TZ, Kwik HUS EZ-I and Kwik Bolt-VTZ can be used. However, if both cUL and FM approvals are required, then only the Kwik Bolt-TZ and Kwik Bolt-VTZ can be used. Don't hesitate to contact us if there is anything else we can do for you.

Kind Regards
Justin
