There are no provisions in ACI 318-11 Chapter 12 for post-installed rebar.

Dear customer,

Thank you for your question. The purpose of the ICC-ES Acceptance Criteria for Post-Installed Adhesive Anchors in Concrete Elements (AC308) is to establish requirements for adhesive anchor systems to be recognized in an ICC Evaluation Service, Inc (ICC-ES) evaluation report (ESR) under the International Building Code (IBC). The IBC references ACI 318; therefore, ACI 318 provisions are considered to be part of the IBC. The ESR obtained for an adhesive system that has been qualified per the provisions given in AC308 will contain provisions and data that can be used to design the system in conjunction with ACI 318 provisions, not as an alternative to these provisions.

Adhesive systems that have passed the test program outlined in the Table 3.8 of the ICC-ES acceptance criteria ACCEPTANCE CRITERIA FOR POST-INSTALLED ADHESIVE ANCHORS IN CONCRETE ELEMENTS (AC308) can be used to post-install reinforcing bars designed per the development and splice provisions of ACI 318-11 Chapter 12 and Chapter 21. Both Hilti HIT-HY 200 and HIT-RE 500 V3 have been tested per AC308 Table 3.8, and received recognition under the IBC for use with the ACI 318 development and splice provisions. Reference Section 4.2 in each evaluation report: ESR-3187 (HIT-HY 200) and ESR-3814 (HIT-RE 500 V3). I hope I have answered your question. If there is anything else, please let me know.

All the best
Bryan
