Is 125mm slab thick enough for holes drilled in its plane?

20mm diameter dowels were proposed to be installed in an existing 125mm Slab-on-grade edge in order to connect the new slab-on-grade into it. The holes will be 300mm deep in the slab plane at 450mm spacing. Is the slab thick enough to prevent spalling from the drilling?

From your question, it appears that you will be embedding 20M rebar at an effective embedment of 300mm with an edge distance of 125mm and center-to-center spacing of 450mm. If you are using Anchor Theory (ACI 318-14 Chapter 17 or CSA23.3-14) to verify that you meet the minimum spacing, edge distance, and concrete thickness requirements for an adhesive anchor, it is best to reference either the product’s ICC-ES Evaluation Report or the Anchor Fastening Technical Guide. Below are the links to two of our adhesive products:
