I need to replace a 5/8" & 3/4" drop-in anchor w/ a KB TZ & coupler in order to hang threaded rod in a seismic zone. All I need to do is match the strength of the Drop-in. Can you tell me what the minimum sized KB TZ's are that I could use are?

Do you have item #'s for anchors/couplers?

Joe,

The technical data for the HDI is tested under Allowable Stress Design (ASD) whereas the data for the KB-TZ is tested under Load Resistance Factor Design (LRFD). This makes it difficult to do a side by side comparison. The design strength can be converted to an ASD value as shown is Section 3.1.8.6 in the Anchor Fastening Product Technical Guide here.

Another option is the HDI-P TZ which is a recently released drop in anchor which is rated for seismic conditions. More information can be found on the product page.

There are 5/8" and 3/4" HDI-P TZ?

Currently, the HDI-P TZ is only available in a 3/8" diameter.
