In post-install connection by chemical anchor I worry about hammer drilling on concrete because the hammer drilling increases micro-crack but my section is sensetive and crack distributaion among concrete is critical for us.I dont know that how much does it influence on concrete strength?
Is there any document or research for this issue which is shown that the concrete strenght how much does it decrease in hammer drilling?
Do you have any better solution for drilling which has less side-effect on concrete?
Amir,
Hilti will test our anchor products in accordance with ICC-ES AC193 and ICC-ES AC308, which include a minimum edge distance test to determine how close to the edge an anchor can be installed to preclude splitting of the concrete member. Other than that, Hilti will not have any additional test information regarding the effects of hammer-drilling and the increased likelihood of micro-cracking of concrete; however, there may be information available from other manufacturers or research studies that can be referenced.
Let us know if you have any additional questions.
Regards,
Bryan
