2 questions:
1. Holes in steel plates are normally 1/16" larger than the bolt diameter for most bolted connections. Please confirm that holes in plates through which Kwik HUS-EZ anchors will be installed must be 1/8" larger than the nominal bolt diameter.
2. Do steel fabricators know that they need to make holes 1/8" larger than the bolt when KH-EZ anchors are specified? How best to communicate that requirement to avoid problems? If the hole is only 1/16" larger, please confirm that the screw anchor won't fit.
Hi Cliff,
- The minimum fixture hole diameter published for the KWIK HUS-EZ is 1/8” larger than the nominal anchor diameter, which can be found in Table 1 of the technical data.
- The fixture hole diameter is provided in the Instructions for Use, as well as the technical data.

Hi Andrew,
If the fixture hole diameter is smaller than 1/8" larger there is a high possibility of the threads of the KH-EZ binding up in the plate. It would be recommended to drill the holes slightly larger to meet the fixture hole diameter published in Hilti's technical information.

Dani
