We have (3) 4" conduits that stub approximately 8" above floor level. These conduits are in one of the IDF rooms with approximately 25 cat6 cables running through. We are interested in the CFS-CC collar to firestop the ends of these conduits however it appears the collars have tabs to surface mount the collar. Can this collar be used at the end of the conduit to encapsulate the wires and seal the end of the conduit without the need to provide a surface mount, or do we need utilize another system i.e., mineral wool and FS-One Max?

The CFS-CC cable collar has to be attached to the floor, so it would not be an option here.
The two main options here would be:
- A mineral wool and FS-1 Max solution per C-AJ-3095
- A CFS-PL firestop plug option per C-AJ-3216
However, these systems do not allow for an 8" extension above the floor. If you want documentation showing that this extension is okay, please fill out an engineering judgement request form and submit to usfirestopeng@hilti.com. Please indicate on the form which method of firestop you would like to use.
