If no systems for CLT, can Hilti firestop provide EJs?

Hello Raymond,

You ask a great question. Mass timber construction is quickly gaining popularity in North America. Cross-laminated timber (CLT) is the most popular form, and the International Building Code is set to expand the use for CLT.

Hilti has partnered with the industry and performed firestop testing in CLT assemblies. I have attached Engineering Judgment templates for firestops in CLT below. You can submit a formal EJ request to our firestop engineering team at usfirestopeng@hilti.com.
Our team is happy to provide support for firestop applications in CLT, and we are continually testing with CLT assemblies to provide safe and proven firestop solutions.

Best Regards,

Matthew Winston

Update March 18, 2019: Updated firestop templates to include more applications.

Hello Jayme Van Oot We do have details for wall penetrations. They are presented as being applicable to either horizontal or vertical assemblies, which is similar to how listing agencies like Intertek and UL present such systems. Each detail in the packet has a Drawing No. at the lower-right hand corner. I will point out those drawing no.'s that cover wall assemblies: TYP-232 TYP-233 TYP-234 TYP-235 TYP-236 TYP-237 Best Regards, Matthew Winston

Hello, are there any EJ's for wall penetrations? Or have these details been reviewed for horizontal and vertical applications?
