Concrete dimensions in hilti program

Dear all

I'd like to have question please

if i had two concrete beams making L shape together, and i want to fix base plate as L shape also on this L beam ...This L beam has no concrete surround, how can i define this into the hilti program as edge distance for concrete ,
The problem in other words that maybe on the same side of base plate edge distance for concrete is different how can i solve this problem?
Kindly refer to the attached sketch.

Thanks
Maher

Mohamed,

At this time PROFIS Anchor only allows for the evaluation of square or rectangular base materials, and will not allow for the custom shape that is in your specific project to be analyzed. There are a few options many designers consider for the evaluation of projects with atypical aspects that the software cannot model:

  1. Perform a hand calculations utilizing the product’s ICC-ES ESR, or equivalent approval document, and ACI 318 Anchoring-to-Concrete provisions (or relevant design provisions in your region).
  2. Resolve the forces for all the anchors independently outside of the PROFIS Anchor software, and then evaluate the two sets of four anchor bolts in two separate PROFIS Anchor files. This will then allow you to determine the acceptability of the anchor design based on your engineering judgement. Please see the attached file for an example.

Ultimatlely it will be up to you or the design engineer on the project to determine the best evaluation methods; however, these options should provide you a good starting point based on past customer experiences. Let us know if you have any additional questions.

Regards,

Bryan

I'm thinking of redo the hilti design but by taking edge distance 50 into account is that possible and in that case, how much ACN and A0CN for example?

Mohamed,

To clarify your question, you are asking that if you redo your anchor system design using the example previously shown, is that possible? If so, then it would be an engineering judgement on your part on the best way to evaluate the project. If you were to set fixed edges for the entire anchor system, this would be the most a conservative approach to your design. For more information on this, feel free to contact our Engineering Support team at hnatechnicalservices@hilti.com and they can discuss this more in depth.

Let us know if you have any additional questions.
