Characteristic Resistance, Frk
Technical data of some anchor bolts such as HUD-L indicated characteristic resistance.
Would like to clarify as below:
i) Characteristic resistance refers to Tension / Shear or both.

Attached is a copy of the Anchor Design section of the 2014 Hilti European Anchor Fastening Technology Manual, with reference to resistance classifications on page 1 / 10. As seen, if using the “Partial Safety Factor Concept,” per ETAG 001 or ETAG 020, the design resistance (Rd) in tension or shear will be used in the anchor system design, and compared against the Design Action (Sd).
