One may question if one can be conservative enough when attempting to account for the varying anchor stiffness and the load carried by each anchor via hand calculations. When faced with a similar challenge in another area, we managed the uncertainty by ensuring elements carried either axial loads or the shear loads, but never subject to both. Interesting in that a failure mode of concrete could play a role in the order and magnitude loading. Does the solution lie in a non-linear analysis? Did I just make something truly simple, complex?
