Does Hilti's software do the check for section 17.2.3.4.3 From ACI 318-14? or is it responsibility of designer to satisfy one of the requirement in this section?

Hi Gaurav,

The designer is responsible to select which option under ACI 318-14 Section 17.2.3.4.3 they are required to meet but all of these options are available in PROFIS Engineering under the Loads tab as discussed below.

When selecting seismic design in PROFIS Anchor, the software will automatically default to ACI 318-11 D.3.3.4.3(a) or ACI 318-14 17.2.3.4.3(a), which requires the anchoring element to be ductile as defined by the ACI 318 Anchoring-to-Concrete provisions.  This option will eliminate all of the non-ductile Hilti anchors. To access other anchors, it will require you as the designer to select a different seismic design provision: b (ductile fixture failure), c (non-ductile fixture failure), or d (overstrength factor) to allow for the software to include the omitted anchors.

Let us know if you have any additional questions.

Thanks,
Adam
